Awards and Certificates

Erasmus is the EU programme for higher education. The aims of the programme are to strengthen the European dimension in higher education and promote transnational cooperation between European higher education institutions in the 33 participating countries. Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering holds an Extended Erasmus University Charter. This means that we are obliged to comply with certain fundamental principles, such as charging no tuition fees for incoming European exchange students, giving incoming students full recognition for satisfactorily completed activities and generally ensuring the highest quality in the mobility activities contained in the programme. Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014 – 2020.

The Danish Accreditation Institution
The Danish Accreditation Institution accredits Danish universities and higher education institutions. This is done by making an academic assessment of the quality and relevance of the programmes. In addition, The Danish Accreditation Institution works actively to document and disseminate relevant knowledge on quality and relevance. The Accreditation Council makes the final decision on accreditation of all higher education in Denmark. In 2010, The Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering received a positive accreditation.

European Maritime Safety Agency
In 2007 the European Maritime Safety Agency, EMSA, started to visit EU member states to monitor the individual member state’s compliance with the standards set by the UN International Maritime Organization (IMO) regarding Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW). The surveys are carried out every 5 years and include an inspection of the ship administration offices and a number of maritime schools. The Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering was part of the 2010 EMSA visit to Denmark, and our school passed the inspection without any non-conformities.

Quality Management System
Our quality aim is to be a competent and modern educational institution. We have ensured the quality of our services by establishing a Quality Management System which as a minimum complies with the quality standards set by the Danish Maritime Authority. The system contains clearly defined guidelines for each step of the education programme and procedures to ensure and document the quality of our activities.
